MY OBSTINATE OPTIMISM

This body I wear

upholstered in an

inexperienced coat

of infatuation

Recovering from the

anguishing end of

asymmetrical affections

Blacked by

disappointment

in him

Who cared not

a straw

His messages dry sticks

Mine, laden branches

A few twigs of hope

Remnants of

unrequited love

stain the desert of

my heart

Something in me

still starves

Something in me is

still alive

I am nothing but a

victim of my own

obstinate optimism
